What is Everything?
Everything is a Windows search engine that finds files and folders by file name in real time. Unlike Windows' default search, Everything shows you all the files and folders on your computer from the start. Hence the name “Everything”! You can easily find the files and folders you want by entering search filters.
How does Everything perform?
How long does it take to index files?
Indexing takes only seconds, because Everything only indexes file and folder names. For example, right after installing Windows 10, it takes about 1 second to index about 120,000 files. Even if you have a million files, it only takes about a minute!
Can I also search file contents?
Yes, you can! Everything can also search file contents using the content: search function. However, because the file contents are not indexed, searching the contents may be a bit slow.
Does it use a lot of system resources?
No, Everything uses very little system resources. Immediately after installing Windows 10, it uses 14MB of memory and less than 9MB of disk with approximately 120,000 files. Even with 1 million files, it only uses about 75MB of memory and 45MB of disk.
Does Everything monitor file system changes?
Yes, Everything monitors file system changes in real time. Any changes to the file are immediately reflected in the search bar.

What are the system requirements for Everything?
