The easiest way to clean the gaps between your keyboard keys is a plain sticky note. Fold it so the adhesive faces out, slide it between the keys, and the low-tack glue picks up dust, pet hair, and crumbs without leaving residue behind.
Why is a keyboard so hard to clean?
Keyboards are hard to clean because the narrow spaces between keys trap dust, pet hair, and snack crumbs where ordinary tools cannot reach. Unless you are incredibly meticulous, there is a good chance your keyboard is harboring a small collection of debris right now.

A simple, everyday sticky note (like a Post-it) is cheap, readily available, and well suited to the job. Here is exactly how to do it.
1. Grab a Fresh Sticky Note Take a single sticky note from your pad. Make sure the adhesive strip at the top is completely fresh and hasn't lost any of its stickiness.
2. Fold it in Half (Sticky Side Out) Fold the note right down the middle, making sure the sticky part is facing outward on both sides. This creates a slightly rigid, incredibly thin tool with adhesive on both edges.
3. Swipe Between the Keys Slide the folded edge of the sticky note down into the gaps between your keyboard keys. Run it back and forth along the rows and columns.
Because the paper is so thin, it slips under the edges of the keys where a cloth or brush can't reach. The adhesive strip acts like a tiny dust magnet, grabbing the stubborn crumbs, hairs, and fine dust particles that may have been trapped in there for months.
4. Check and Toss Pull the sticky note out and take a look. What is stuck to the paper may be horrifying, but it is also very satisfying. Once the adhesive is covered in dust, throw it away, fold a fresh one, and keep going until your keyboard looks clean again.
Why does a sticky note work better than compressed air?
A sticky note works better because it lifts dirt out instead of blowing it around. The adhesive on a sticky note is "low-tack," meaning it is sticky enough to pick up dust but not strong enough to leave sticky residue on your keyboard.
